Fitness Influencer Sam Wood Remanded in Custody Over Domestic Violence Charges
Fitness entrepreneur and former reality television star Sam Wood has been remanded in custody after appearing in a Queensland court on domestic violence charges.
Queensland Police arrested the 46-year-old at a residential address in Noosa following emergency calls reporting a domestic dispute. Officers subsequently charged Wood with assault occasioning bodily harm in a domestic setting and strangulation in a domestic setting.
Wood appeared via video-link in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday. He remained in police custody after his legal representative confirmed that a formal bail application would be presented later in the week.
The Guardian reportedly quoted Mark Watkin (Acting chief executive of 28 Group) as saying: “We have zero tolerance for domestic violence. While the matter is under investigation and before the court, Sam is on indefinite leave from his duties.”.
Following the arrest, management at 28 Group—the parent entity of Wood's commercial health programs—announced that the founder had been removed from active operational duties indefinitely.
The Guardian reportedly quoted Mathew Cuskelly (Defense lawyer representing Sam Wood) as saying: “He’s simply worried about his family. A bail application will be heard on Thursday”.
A joint statement released on social media channels on behalf of Wood and his family stated that they were fully cooperating with investigating authorities during the legal process.

Wood gained widespread public prominence in 2015 as the lead subject in the third season of Australia's version of The Bachelor, where he met his future wife, Snezana Markoski. The couple married in 2018 and raise four daughters.
