One Nation to Move Headquarters into Brisbane Office Owned by Billionaire Gina Rinehart
One Nation is preparing to relocate its national headquarters to a three-storey commercial office building in the Brisbane suburb of Spring Hill, following the property's acquisition by mining billionaire Gina Rinehart's investment company.
Property title records confirm that Rinehart's firm, Hanrine, finalized the purchase of the building, which previously served commercial tenants. The political party plans to move its central administration from its former office near Brisbane airport once interior renovations are completed.
The Guardian reportedly quoted Barnaby Joyce (One Nation MP) as saying: “It’s her building, it’s her lease. We’re leasing it off her at commercial rates.”.
One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce defended the commercial arrangements, rejecting claims that the party was receiving preferential treatment or discounted rates from Rinehart's business entities.
Under parliamentary rules, the federal government covers office leases for elected MPs and senators for parliamentary duties, but does not fund administrative headquarters for political parties. Joyce stressed that the rental fees would be drawn directly from party funds.
The Spring Hill office building designated as One Nation's new headquarters is estimated to be worth approximately $8m, having previously sold for $2.4m in 2003. — according to The Australian.
The Guardian reportedly quoted Hancock Prospecting spokesperson (Representative for Gina Rinehart's corporate entity) as saying: “Hancock Prospecting holds a range of commercial property, and this building is one of them. Hancock is not providing free or discounted space to any outside tenant, political or otherwise.”.
Ongoing scrutiny over billionaire ties
The lease arrangement arrives amid heightened scrutiny surrounding the political relationship between Rinehart and senior One Nation figures, including party leader Pauline Hanson.
Recent investigations revealed that Hanson and Joyce stayed overnight at Rinehart's $20m Brisbane residence following fundraising events earlier this year, and that Hanson has utilized one of Rinehart's personal bodyguards for security escort duties in Perth and Canberra.
Additionally, Senate disclosures revealed multiple non-compliance issues involving undeclared private flights gifted to Hanson by Hancock Prospecting since August 2025, including international travel to political conferences in the United States and a gifted private aircraft valued at over $1.5m.
- One Nation is shifting its national headquarters to an $8m Spring Hill building owned by Gina Rinehart's property company.
- Barnaby Joyce and Hancock Prospecting both stated the lease will operate at commercial market rates without taxpayer funding.
