9/11 Families Demand Accountability as Ground Zero Identification Efforts Continue
As the US prepares to observe the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on Friday, victim families and forensic teams in New York are highlighting ongoing efforts toward justice and closure. Terry Strada, national chair of 9/11 Families United, stated that it has taken far too long to hold Saudi Arabia accountable as a lawsuit alleging Saudi support for the hijackers moves toward trial.
At the same time, New York officials are deploying new, complex technology in a continuing quest to identify human remains recovered from Ground Zero. Forensic experts are working to match traces belonging to more than 1,000 victims whose remains have still not been identified nearly 25 years after the attacks.
