Rock Band Enter Shikari Announces Plan for Indefinite Hiatus Starting in 2027
British rock group Enter Shikari has announced plans to enter an indefinite hiatus starting at the end of 2027. The St Albans-formed band, who began performing together under the name Hybryd in 1999, confirmed that they will cease all recording and touring activities following the conclusion of their scheduled commitments.
Despite the upcoming pause, the band stated that they do not view the decision as a definitive breakup, though they acknowledged uncertainty regarding whether they will ever resume public operations. Prior to the hiatus, Enter Shikari will undertake extensive touring across the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America.
The Guardian reportedly quoted Enter Shikari (British rock band) as saying: “As of December 31, 2027, Enter Shikari will fall dormant as a recording and performing entity. This dormancy may eventually end with an eruption back into activity, or may end with extinction, we have no idea which.”.
Two Decades of Chart Success
Over their 20-year professional recording history, the band produced six UK top 10 albums, including reaching the number one spot with their 2023 release A Kiss for the Whole World. The group also scored several charting singles including Anything Can Happen in the Next Half and Juggernauts.
Reasons Behind the Pause
In their statement, members cited the mental and physical toll of maintaining a long-term music career, as well as shifting personal priorities. They also noted recent health struggles experienced by lead singer Rou Reynolds, which accelerated ongoing discussions regarding the group's long-term future. The band confirmed they are finalizing new music and video projects for release before their scheduled departure.
- Enter Shikari will pause all music recording and live performances on December 31, 2027.
- The group will carry out international tour dates throughout 2026 and 2027 before going dormant.
- The band achieved six top 10 UK albums during their 20-year recording history.
