Avatar Star Cliff Curtis Hospitalised with Internal Injuries After High-Speed Crash
Actor Cliff Curtis has been hospitalised following a high-speed traffic accident on the waterfront in Auckland, New Zealand. The 58-year-old Kiwi actor, widely recognized for his roles in blockbusters such as The Piano, The Meg, and the Avatar franchise, was one of two occupants inside a Tesla that struck a parked Toyota Prius taxi at a busy intersection on the night of September 23.
Emergency services responded to the collision around 10:30pm. Firefighters on scene were forced to cut the driver of the taxi out of the damaged vehicle before delivering life support prior to transport. According to local fire officials, the impact was extremely high-speed, leaving three individuals with varying levels of injury ranging from minor to serious.
Metro reportedly quoted Cliff Curtis (Actor appearing in the Avatar film franchise) as saying: “I am deeply saddened by this incident. My thoughts are with those who were hurt, and their families at this time.”.
In a statement issued to local media, Curtis confirmed that he was hospitalized due to internal injuries sustained in the collision. He noted that he assisted the other individuals involved with basic first aid while awaiting emergency crews. Curtis emphasised that he is collaborating fully with relevant authorities as New Zealand Police continue investigating the exact causes of the crash, adding that no charges have been filed at this stage.
